Synopsis of “Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation.” by Emilie Rawlings
This is a book of hope. A book of new beginnings. Are you ready for this to be your year? The year you go from wanting, wishing and hoping to being, doing and having? Excerpt from the book; “I will open myself up to you. You will know my journey, my challenges, and my victories. I will share the tools and knowledge I have learned along the way. I will uncover the simple yet profound truths on which to build the life of your dreams. This is my promise to you. What is the promise you make to yourself? Being open, courageous, and curious is a great place to start. Promising yourself that you will set aside time, and value yourself above all else, is also a great step. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. What is your promise to yourself? Take another deep breath. Are you ready to get started?”
Name of interviewee: Emilie Rawlings
Why have you chosen to come on this interview?:
I am the every day person, who is following a path to discovering and reaching their purpose in this life. I speak about how mentally I hit rock bottom and then how I used that experience to not only get to a better version of myself but to never return to that. I am the everyday entrepreneur who has gotten burnt out from trying to balance a business and life at the same time. In my book we discuss burn out and restoration with self love and care techniques to implement daily.
Question 1: Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how long have you been writing?
Answer: I spent the first half of my life in the Seattle area, and now call upstate NY my home.
I have been writing all my life. I clearly remember writing an adventure book about a mouse when I was in elementary school. I was convinced it would be published. Think “Secret of Nimh”, meets “The Hobbit.” Since then I have written informally, or in private journals. Last year, I felt I had a book inside of me that wanted to come out. So at that point, my main focus was to create space and time for the inspiration to happen, and the writing to occur.
Question 2: Tell us about your latest book. What do you hope readers take away from it?
Answer: My book “Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation.”, is a book of hope. It is the story of how I emerged from my breakdown in 2016, into the life of my dreams. I start by sharing my journey into and out of my breakdown. The book focuses primarily on what I learned along the way, and how what I discovered allowed me to reframe myself and allowed me to build the foundation on which I built the life of my dreams. The book provides simple, practical steps that can be easily implemented into one’s life. It has companion meditations, that allow the reader a fully immersive experience of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. My goal is to take the reader on a journey of full integration, so that what they are learning becomes a part of them. These steps will give the reader the tools and practices to either ensure they never experience a breakdown in the first place, or create the safeguards to avoid a future occurrence.
Question 3: Book you’re currently reading?
Answer: I am studying the “Tao Te Ching” to continue my metaphysical learning. I say “studying”, because I am using other sources to help me understand the original text. I also love to escape with books, so besides Self-Help and Science Fiction, I love well-written romance novels with a supernatural twist. One of my favorite series is the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. And of course, the Twilight Saga!
Question 4: Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?
Answer: My book is non-fiction, and the main character is me! What I do is find the root of my breakdown and implement regular Self-Care and Self-Love, to ensure I don’t have another breakdown. I then provide clear and practical steps so the reader may do the same.
Question 5: Where can we learn more about you?
Answer: You can go to my website http://www.emilierawlings.com for the general overview. My book “Foundation” is a great way to get to know me too.
