Wonder why you should appear on The Segilola Salami Show?

Looking back now, I think I started The Segilola Salami Show on a whim. I mean how else could I have come up with such a creative name? 😉

When I was reading up ways to promote my books, a recurring advice that showed up in the marketing articles I read was to start a podcast.

I know you may not believe this but at the end of 2015, I didn’t even know what a podcast was. Thankfully, I am a quickly learner.

After severe delays, my website was ready at the end of January 2016. I posted a comment on Goodreads inviting people to appear as guests on the show. I stumbled upon Get Radio Interview Guests Free at RadioGuestList.com. It was pretty easy to use to post a guest request out. It took a couple of days for my listing to be approved but OMG was I inundated with emails. I think I had over a hundred people email me requesting to be on the show on the first day.

The first podcast episode was recorded on the 5th of Feb 2016 and I have been recording episodes weekly ever since. That first episode was uploaded to my YouTube Channel immediately but went live on my podcast feed on the 28th of Feb 2016. I changed hosting provider and the podcast was listed on the iTunes store on the 10th of March 2016. On the 18th of March 2016, the podcast was listed on Stitcher. Obviously the show at this time was also listed on a number of podcast aggregators.

The only platform The Segilola Salami Show is not yet listed on is Spotify as my application is still pending approval.

Bearing in mind that as at December 31st 2015 I didn’t even know what a podcast is, I feel honoured that when I put a call out, hundreds of authors heeded my call.

It has been with all your support that 2 months later the show has grown a lot and I want to share with you where we are at now.

Please note that I am not a marketing expert nor have a big marketing budget. In fact, every penny that I have spent to get the show where it is today has cost me something else. But the results make me feel the costs have been worthwhile.

So without much ado, if you ever wonder why you should appear on The Segilola Salami Show, here are my top 5 reasons:

1. The Segilola Salami Show is listed in majority of the top podcast platforms
2. On iTunes, as at today the 6th of May 2016, The Segilola Salami Show is the TOP 3 podcast show in Literature
3. The show has had about 3000 downloads so far, with the United States and the UK being the top 2 countries where the show has been downloaded from
4. I have had different people email me/leave comments about something they took away from an episode, so I know that people not only download the show but they actually listen to what the guests have to say
5. People interact with my YouTube channel to take part in the giveaways hosted there
