What is “How to Produce Abundance in your Life” by John Polis about?
Abundance is a sparingly used word in today’s culture. Instead, what we see in the world today is excess. Excess is not abundance. Excess in and of itself has a negative connotation of being lavish, but heaping only upon ourselves. Excess is the perversion of abundance.
God’s purpose has never changed with regards to abundance. He is El Shaddai which means more than enough. In other words, abundance. He wants us to be fully supplied and thoroughly furnished so we can be God’s instrument of blessing in the earth. Abundance is God’s means for us to be lavishly blessed with enough left over to lavish on others. It’s a promise far too few of us have dared to believe.
The Snippet
We have surveyed seedtime and harvest and observed that all of life revolves around this principle. In the first chapter, we discussed how to plant the Word of God in your heart. The second chapter demonstrated how to plant the seed of faith with your words. Next, we learned how to plant financial seed for a money harvest. When Jesus taught that we reap what we sow, He was not speaking about money alone. Financial seeds are only part of the message. In this chapter we will examine how to plant your life as a seed. John 12: 23-26 reads, “But Jesus answered them saying,‘The hour has come that the Son of man should be glorified. Most assuredly I say to you, unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies it remains alone, but if it dies it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me let him follow Me, and where I am there My servant will be also. If anyone serves me, he My Father will honor.’ ” Absolutes Jesus understood that there are absolute laws that govern life and He operated in those laws. We live in an age of relativism in which few people believe in absolutes.
Without absolute laws, everyone becomes his own god— making and remaking their own rules according to their own circumstances and individuality. This is the result of our culture throwing out the Bible which teaches absolutes. There are unchanging laws in the universe to which we must align ourselves. We must submit ourselves to these unchanging laws to get along in life. You Must Repent Luke 13: 3 states one of the laws which govern the universe, “Except you repent you shall all likewise perish.” When He said “except,” it was an absolute. Unless a person repents he will not enter the kingdom of God, but will perish. The word “perish” is the word for lost. “God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3: 9). God does not want one person to be “lost.” Jesus Christ came to seek and save that which was lost. The word “lost” is the same word for “perish” and means to lose something. When we lose something valuable to us, we are in grief until we find it. When something is lostit is no longer in your possession. Before we are saved we are lost. That means we are not in God’s possession. The Bible tells us that Satan is the god of this world and that lost sinners (those who are not in God’s possession) belong to Satan. When Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood, that blood paid a price to redeem those who put their faith in His blood. The word “redeemed” means “to be bought back” like when you go to the pawn shop and buy back something lost to you so it becomes your possession again.
