What’s the importance of a good office chair?
Hey all,
How are we doing today? Summer is well and truly over in the UK. I look forward to seeing the sun again next year.
It all started in January 2016
If you’re one of the lovely people who honour me with your time and follow my ramblings on my blog, you may have seen at one point or the other where I mentioned that I sprained my back at the start of 2016. After seeing my GP and physio, I was told to take things easy and give my back time to heal.
Was I delusional???
8 months later, I was feeling really cool with myself, thinking that things were back to normal as I hadn’t needed to take any painkillers for a few good weeks. So what did I decide to do? Start exercising! “Oh oh”, I can imagine you saying. Yup, the back pain started again. It was not like regular back pain, it felt like spasms.
Not every expert is an expert
The exercise regime was given to me by a personal fitness trainer. Even though I had told her that I had sprained my back, I guess she didn’t take that into consideration in the programme she made for me. I just had to stop. I’ll just have to make do with my nice little pooch for my book launch event next month.
That brings me to the point of this post today. Whilst chatting with my daughter’s godmother, I mentioned that my back pain had returned. To be honest, I didn’t expect the question she asked me in return.
“What’s your posture like when you’re on your laptop?”
You see, she knows me very well. She knows that I spend a lot of my writing time in bed in the wee hours of the morning, when my little human is asleep. As a mom, when else can I get time to myself? Her question actually got me thinking. I prop my back with pillows whilst typing but in all honesty, is that really the best posture for my back? Has that contributed to the delay in my back muscles healing themselves properly?
As an author, podcaster and blogger, do I need an office chair? What’s the importance of a good office chair? I came upon this infographic by Furniture At Work.
It is clear to me that I need to invest in a good office chair for my back’s sake. Maybe the folks at Furniture At Work would be so kind as to give me one for free ehehehehehhe.
